Linux/SN65DSI83: The screen is abnormal

Part Number: SN65DSI83
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65100, DSI-TUNER

Tool/software: Linux

1. Description of abnormal phenomena: The screen is abnormal.SN65DSI83.zip, abnormal video/picture see attachment
2. Abnormal recurrence conditions: the probability of repeated switching on and off occurs, about 15/2000; after the narrowing down: the initial initialization of SN65DSI83 will have a high probability of this blooming phenomenon, the value of register 0xE5 of SN65DSI83 is 0 when abnormal.
3. The action of initializing the SN65DSI83 is: the MIPI signal is always Ready, resetting the EN pin and initializing the SN65dsi83 register will cause a screen abnormality.
4. Each power supply is measured by oscilloscope and no abnormality is found. TPS65100 (Vin=5V, VAA=8V, VGH=20V, VGL=-7V, VCOM=3V, LCD_VDD=3.3V) is normal, SN65DSI83 (Vcc=1.8V, Vcore= 1.1V) normal
5. The LVDS DATA output signal of SN65DSI83 is abnormal when the test is abnormal. The normal/abnormal signal waveform is shown in the attached file.

  • Hi Jepson,

    Please see my feedback below:

    1. Ensure that you are following the initialization sequence on page 15 of the datasheet. If this sequence is not implemented correctly then you will see abnormalities with the display. On an oscilloscope the sequence looks like:

    2. If you are still seeing issues after verifying the above, please provide the following:

You can email these to me at i-anyiam@ti.com if you do not want to share them here.
