DS90UB954-Q1: Strap Configuration setting to meet DS90UB933-Q1 and YUV422 signal

Part Number: DS90UB954-Q1

Hi Team,

Our structure as below.

How to design external HW mode setting?

Besides, any other key parameters we should get from camera vendor for FPDLINK setting?

Thanks

  • Hi Daniel,

You are going to need to strap the MODE pin to one of the RAW modes. See section 7.4.2 in the DS90UB954-Q1 datasheet, as this explains more about the RAW mode backwards compatibility with the Deserializer. Ensure that the bandwidth/line rate is enough for the throughput you will be sending. For example, if using a RAW10 Mode and a of PCLK of 100MHz, the line rate is 1.4Gbps... A key parameter that must be followed when using the DS90UB954-Q1 in backwards compatibility is the minimum FV to LV timing, see section 7.4.14 and Table 11 of the DS90UB954-Q1 datasheet. If this is not met, the first video line will be discarded.

  • Hi Mandeep,

    Many thanks for the reply.

My customer still have some questions, please kindly help.

    1. What is the difference between Raw10 and Raw12? For below application, should we choose Raw10 or Raw12?

    2. Could these mode change by SW register?

    3. Any key setting should 933 take care to cooperate with 954?

    Many Thanks

  • 1) RAW12 is essentially 12 bits of data verus RAW10 is 10 bits of data. RAW12 has slight better bits per pixel than the RAW10 mode. This is something that you need to discuss with the imager team. They'll know whether they are sending RAW10 or RAW12. If there's no preference then you can do RAW12, as long as the total CSI bandwidth doesn't exceed the 954 max (~3.32Gbps CSI data).

    2) You can change it in register 0x6D[1:0]. However, the part then will not come up as RAW, it will come up as CSI and you will not have communciation until you go into the registers and change the MODE setting.

    3) As long as the settings on the 954 are correct and the video bandwidth doesn't exceed the 954 max, then you should be fine.
