1000BASE-KX to 10/100-TX conversion

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DP83869

We have an application where the switch is being designed to be 1000BASE-KX with no auto-negotiation.

We need to connect to a 10/100-TX device.

Any ideas on how to accomplish this?

Ideally, it needs to be self contained in that we will not have a processor to load registers, etc. Worse case, we can put something like a PIC to do that.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  • Hi,

1000base-KX and SGMII are similar standards, and there is a possibility that bypassing the auto-negotiation function of SGMII and 1000base-kx can work.

You can evalaute DP83867 and DP83869 as both offers SGMII interface on MAC side and can offer 10/100M MDI interface.
