TUSB8042: Program for External EEPROM

Part Number: TUSB8042

Hello

I would like you to confirm when user will use I2C EEPROM mode.

In case of this mode, user need to program register setting to external EEPROM before implementing custom board.

The general method to write EEPROM by using ROM writer, right ?

And also, if programed EEPROM is implemented on custom board and set I2C EEPROM mode, does TUSB8042 just read external EEPROM after Reset is deasserted (TUSB8042 do not have write behavior to EEPROM, right ?) ?

BR,

  • Hi,

This is correct TUSB8042 will perform a burst read of the EEPROM in I2C mode directly after reset is de-asserted and SDA/SCL are pulled high. It will not write to EEPROM in I2C Mode. Yes, the EEPROM will need to be written externally with some ROM writer.
