DS90UB936-Q1: RAW Mode

Part Number: DS90UB936-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DS90UB913A-Q1

Hi Team,

I have a question about DS90UB936-Q1 for RAW Mode.

When I connect the DS90UB913A-Q1 to DS90UB936-Q1, can I communicate using only the "Strap Configuration Mode Select" setting in the datasheet?

Or can you communicate only by setting 0x6D [1: 0] of the register?
Or do you need both the Mode terminal and register settings?

Are there any other register settings?

Best Regards,
Ishiwata

  • Hello Ishiwata,

You can use either the mode strapping or the register setting. You do not need to use both to configure the mode.

  • Hello Casey,

    I have additional questions.

When connecting DS90UB913A-Q1 to DS90UB936-Q1, it input YUV422 to 913. Is 936 compatible?
I understand that communication is possible from the following data sheet contents.

In this case, do you need to adjust the packet or data mapping?
    And what is a DVP?

  • Hello Casey,

    There are additional questions.

    (1) Which is dominant, Mode pin or 0x6D [1: 0] of the register? Or is it preferred?

    (2) The CMOS camera inputs 8-bit data.
In that case, the 936 is set to 12 bit Low frequency mode.
Can I transmit without problems with this setting? Do you have any precautions?

    (3) If you need to set 10bit mode in question (2), do you need to set 10 (upper 8 bits valid) or 11 (lower 8 bits valid) in RAW10_8BIT_CTL of PORT_CONFIG2 register (0X7C)?

    (4) When performing remote GPIO operation from DS90UB936-Q to DS90UB913, Please tell me the delay time until it is reflected to the DS90UB913 side.

  • Hello Ishiwata,

    (1) Which is dominant, Mode pin or 0x6D [1: 0] of the register? Or is it preferred?
The register setting override is dominant

    (2) The CMOS camera inputs 8-bit data.
In that case, the 936 is set to 12 bit Low frequency mode.
Can I transmit without problems with this setting? Do you have any precautions?
No problem, just make the RAW mode match the RAW output mode of the 913A serializer. Most commonly though for 8 bit applications, 10 bit RAW mode is used on both SER and DES

    (3) If you need to set 10bit mode in question (2), do you need to set 10 (upper 8 bits valid) or 11 (lower 8 bits valid) in RAW10_8BIT_CTL of PORT_CONFIG2 register (0X7C)?
This depends on how you connect the imager to the 913A

    (4) When performing remote GPIO operation from DS90UB936-Q to DS90UB913, Please tell me the delay time until it is reflected to the DS90UB913 side.
Typical latency for back channel GPIO when paired with 913A (2.5Mbps back channel) is 12.2us
