TUSB4041I: TUSB4041I pin17 test pin question

Hi Sir,

In the TUSB4041I datasheet, it mentions the pin17 ,TEST is reserved for factory test.
And in TUSB4041I Schematic Checklist for the pin17 TEST, it recommends connect a 4.7 k pull-down to GND.

Does it mean if we connect a 4.7k pull down it will enable the TEST mode?
And if we don't need enable the TEST mode , can we leave it unconnected for the pin17?

Hey Anne,

Grounding pin 17 will keep the pin from floating and potentially entering test mode. You shouldn't need to enable test mode. Pulling down pin 17 will disable test mode and make sure it stays disabled, you should not leave it unconnected.

Yes, pin17 being low means the chip should work in normal mode.

Hi Sir,
From TUSB4041I datasheet mentioned pin17 has internal pull down resistor,
Does it means we can leave it as floating and the Test pin will be low due to there is internal PD resistor?
If yes, why you suggest to have external pull low for normal mode?

Hello Anne,

Yes there is an internal pull-down resistor, but to keep any power-on noise from triggering test mode it is recommended to connect an external pull-down.
