DP83822EVM: Does see UDP traffic from PHY?

Part Number: DP83822EVM

Hi team,

I would like to know if this setup will work, I am prototyping the DP83822EVM to NXP TJA1100 100Base-T1 PHY configuration.

MII/RMII PHY back-to-back connections.

Scenario 2 is working, I have seen traffic between two computers via Wireshark and ping successful.

Scenario 1 doesn't work, what is missing?

Thanks,

  • Hi,

I am not able to identify the difference in connection between DP83822 and TJA1100 between two scenarios. As per diagram, both are connected in MII back-2-back connection. Can you please explain the differnce ?

    Regards,
    Geet
  • Hi Geet,

    Thanks for your respond.

In scenario 1 the unit connecting directly to MDI (2-wires).

In scenario 2 the unit replaced by a computer for troubleshoot purpose, to see if the setup can communicate with each other, which it does communicating.

The known good unit is working for sure, I have verify by connecting the unit via MDI->RJ45 to computer directly, and I have seen UDP Packet is coming but thru MII back to back, it doesn't work.

I got no clues what is going on.

    Regards,

    Stanley

  • Hi,

Can you use RMII instead of MII for back-2-back ? You can provide 50Mhz from Oscillator to both Phys.

In MII both the clocks are provided by both Phy and expect the data recieved from the other side synchronised.

    Geet
  • Thanks Geet.

It is working now with Reverse MII back-to-back on Phy.

    Thanks,

    Stanley
