Hi,

My customer is evaluating DP83848I. but found the SPEED LED keep ON under 100M data rate,even without inserting RJ-45 . this is unacceptable to them. They have used a lot of KSZ8041 before, no similar problem found.

1. Please confirm if this issue is repairable through SW or HW?

2.Does DP83822I have a similar problem?

3.Please recommend one which do not have such kind of problem.

Hi Yue,

"Without inserting RJ-45" means the cable is not connected, right?

Then how is the speed is determined? Is the device in forced 100M?

According to my understand, they don't force the speed to 100M. but something happened that the speed light keep on, even without connecting the RJ-45 cable. I should get more information in these few days. before that, based on your experience, In which case, this "always-on" thing could happen? Thanks.

Hi,

The LED is ON when device is in 100Mb/s and OFF when in 10Mb/s. You can check whether the device is in forced 100Mb/s by reading register 0x0.
