PCA9306: About PCA9306 using in GPIO scenario

Part Number: PCA9306

Hi dear supporting team,

for they application of PCA9306 in GPIO scenario, if they do 3.3V to 1.8V single direction conversion, it is push-pull,   not open drain, pls help confirm:

1.  whether the chip could support using this way?

2. could they remove the pull up resistor at both input and output?

  • Hi Vera,

Yes, PCA9306 can be used with push-pull signalling as long as it is unidirectional. You would not need a pull-up on the input side of the PCA9306, but you would need one on the output. (The device only passes through "low" levels and is high impedance for "high" levels, allowing them to be pulled up to their respective VCC levels.)

    Regards,
