TPS65988: VCONN Current Requirement

Part Number: TPS65988

Dear Team,

In TPS65988 spec, it allow the maximum current 600mA for VCONN.

But as I know from PD spec, it only require 1W (5V/200mA) for the active cable.

I feel confused that which one should my customer follow? 200mA or 600mA?

Thank you.

Jim

  • Hi Jim,

Some alternate mode adapters can require up to 6W per the PD spec. You can search for the VCONN Power field in Table 6-38 of the PD3.0 spec. The TPS65988 has the ability to provide up to 3W per port. The customer should design for the 600mA number.

    Thank you,
    Eric
