Can TFP410 directly interfaced with HDMI connector? I believe only T.M.D.S with shielding required for the video transmission. Please note that we are interested only in Video not in Audio. I saw some of the TI reference design used ESD + Level shifter IC (P/N# TPD12S521). Is it really required? Due to Board space constraint we are not comfortable adding this device. If my understanding is right, we just need 24bit + control signals encoded to T.M.D.S by transmitter(TFP410) and other end Decoded T.M.D.S to 24bit by Receiver (TFP401). Why do 5V level shifter required?

Which TI design are you referencing? I don't believe a level shifter is needed.

Hi Balaji,

In that design the level shifter is being used to translate DDC CLK and Data from 3.3V to 5V, which depends on the HDMI transmitter and is not related to the TFP410. The TFP410 itself does not require a level shifter to interface with HDMI connectors.
