TPS65983B: Doubt about HV_GATE1 and HV_GATE2

Hi, Team

I have a question about TPS65983B HV_GATE signal.

Datasheet shows that HV_GATE drive ability as below.

If I pull down HV_GATE to GND by a resistor exceed the drive ability, for example pull a 100mA current, would this make the circuit damage or not?

Hi Picher,

The TPS65983B is only approved for use in a TBT3 device design that is following an Intel Reference design. Any changes to these designs can not be supported by the TPS65983B.

So how about TPS65982, can this chip HV_GATE can be pull down to GND?

Hi Picher,

Yes, as long as the 6uA current is not exceeded. However, this is not recommended. The TPS65982 will automatically disabled and enable the external power path based on what is happening on the Type-C port. There is no need to control this externally.
