TPS65982: Current sense details

Can you add any details on how the TPS65982DC does the External High-Voltage Power-Path current sense with the internal ADC? Is there any averaging or filtering of the samples to eliminate noise? This is the RSENSE reading through the SENSEP and SENSEN pins.

Hi David,

The ADC just does a single read when the ADCs command is used. There is no sampling/filtering involved.

Hi Eric;

The concern it that if the ADC samples on the highest point of the output of a switch mode supply which is providing the current into the RSENSE, or at a processor peak, that the current will not be accurate.

Is the single read actually implemented with several samples and averaged and provided as a single reading? Is there anyway to average the ADC samples? The ADC input sampling time appears to be 10.67 uS, and the operating frequency 1.5Mhz, may indicate that 16 samples are averaged before outputting the reading. Can you advise if this is correct?

I checked with the team on this, the ADCs command just does a single read after the command is sent.
