TPS65987D: Possible to change Event Mapping of GPIO via on the default firmware with some simple I2C commands?

We would like to use the TPS65987D without flash since the default firmware (with Configuration 3 on ADCIN1) does all we need. The only thing missing is that we would like to map the "Cable Orientation Event" to one of the GPIOs, which doesn't seem to be mapped in the default configuration.

Is there a simple way to just configure the event mapping via I2C or would I need to generate a whole FW Image and load it into RAM (we use a simple MCU for all power management, which might not have enough flash to store a 16k binary)?

Hi Mark,

Unfortunately, the GPIO Configuration register (0x5C) is a read-only register, meaning that it cannot be updated during run-time. If you do not have a Flash on your system but do have an embedded controller, you have the option of storing the patch and configuration for the TPS65987D on your EC and pushing it to the TPS65987D when it is booting. Thanks for the answer. Might have to include a Flash after all (since the MCU doesn't have enough flash to store the patch and configuration)
