TUSB4020BI-Q1: TUSB4020BI-Q1 power consumption questions

Part Number: TUSB4020BI-Q1

Hi Support team

1. TUSB4020BI-Q1 supports high speed, full speed, low speed mode. In the data sheet, you can find the current required to provide a port in high speed mode and two ports respectively. But there is no complete - speed, low speed data, can you help me with it? Because it has been found that most Hub ICs have different power consumption for different transmission speeds. In addition, the current need to see the maximum power consumption is when both ports are running at high speed, then when the data transmission ends, does the required current drop back to the suspended condition?

2. In the specification, you can see that the operating temperature is -40~105. When the junction temperature operation exceeds 105, will it cause IC damage? When the temperature is too high but has not been operated 105, what effect will it have on the IC? IC Will the characteristics and behavior change?

3. Following the first two questions, can we design a temperature detection mechanism? When the test is performed at a certain temperature, the performance of the IC can be reduced. For example, the speed of data transmission is reduced to reduce power consumption.

many thanks

  • 1: we need to find out if have this data.
2: high temp will not damage device, but we not Guarantee performance meet spec. characteristics will change,
3: I'm sure you can. you can run the compliance test at each temp and record data ( like rise time/fall time, eyediagram and current)
  • Hi Brian

May i have your kindly feedback if you find out the data

  • sorry, we only have the data on datasheet.
  • Hi Brian,
Does the requirement current change at different speed mode?
If the application have critical temperature condition, do you have other suggestion for design solution?

  • current will change with different speed mode, but in low speed, current should be lower than HS.
we speced 105C, what critical temperature condition you have?

  • Thank you for your reply.

In my application, the operating temperature range is -40~85°C. But for this case, the PWB should be placed in a  closed plastic box. The result of thermal simulation indicate that IC temperature is close to 120°C.

So can you suggest other components for my case? Thanks.

  • our Q1 device can work up to 105C, 120C is a little higher
