DS90UB953-Q1: Bandwidth limited by serializer

Part Number: DS90UB953-Q1

Hi,
I would like to run an IMX412 with this serializer, and when just looking at frame rate, resolution, and bit depth, we're under the bandwidth of the serializer, but when including the frame and line blanking required by the sensor, our bitrate exceeds the 4.16Gbps limit. I've read as well the the serializer has ~25% of it's bandwidth as overhead, so we're really looking at ~3.3Gbps. Is there a serializer coming out soon that we can look forward to that is a higher bandwidth than what is currently available?
Also, if we get the bitrate just under 3.3Gbps, or whatever the amount is that is left over after the overhead, should we expect no problems, or are the extra considerations when you're closer to the limit of the serializer?

Thank you.

  • Hello Marshall,

The 953 can handle up to 832Mbps/lane maximum (3328Mbps total) when operated with 26MHz REFCLK from the deserializer side. As far as roadmap serializers go, we are not prepared to discuss such topics, but keep an eye on TI.com for more info as it becomes available.

    Best Regards,
    Casey
