TPS65987D: Differences Between 2 Firmwares

Hi Team,

My customer used 2 different firmwares (TPS65987D_rom1p2p1_DRP_Advanced_3p10_Bitland_Support_VDM_0925 and TPS65987D_rom1p2p1_DRP_Advanced_3p10_Bitland_Support_VDM_UFP) for TPS65987D. With the 0925 firmware, the device can get the VDM information, while with UFP version it cannot (see below captures). Could you please help to check the difference between the 2 firmwares? (Firmwares are in the attachments)

Hi Andonis,

Typically, only the DFP will advertise the product VDO. This is as expected. Additionally, please make sure you are using the latest version of the Application Customization Tool V. 5.13

Thanks for your feedback. Is there a workaround if customer needs the VDO information in UFP mode?

Hi Andonis,

This is not a TPS65987D issue since the PD controller is following the PD Spec. If you want to see the VDO information, I would suggest doing a DR Swap.

I see. Can you help on the firmware modification based on the current firmware provided here in order to achieve the DR swap?

Hi Andonis,

If you would like to do a DR Swap to DFP, you just need to enable "Initiate Swap to DFP" in the Port Control register 0x29.
