DS90LV804: Decoupling capacitor for VDD pin

Part Number: DS90LV804
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65LVDS100,

Hi Experts,

We are looking at SN65LVDS100 datasheet for PCB design for DS90LV804. Since DS90LV804 has multiple VDD pins, we want to know how to add a decoupling capacitor. Do we need decoupling capacitor like 0.1uF for each VDD pins or one for multiple VDD pins?

Regards,

Uchikoshi

  • Hi Uchikoshi-san,

Ideally, it is best to have a decoupling cap for each power pin. If you would like to reduce the component count a little and still have decent decoupling, then the next best thing is to have a decoupling cap for each adjacent group of pins ( one cap for pins 3 & 4, one for 6 & 7, one for 19 & 20, and one for 21 & 22).

A good reference that discusses this in general is the LVDS Owner’s Manual (www.ti.com/lit/ug/snla187/snla187.pdf ).
