TPS65987D: Can both GPIO and truth table mode been used at the same time for 65987DD?

Part Number: TPS65987D
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65982, TPS65987

Hi,

My customer is using 5 PDO output but if only use truth table PDO mode, it's very hard for hardware design.

Can we use the MSB of truth table mode for 20V output control and for 5, 9, 12, 15V, using the GPIO mode to control?

It's like the reference design attach above from TPS65982

Can TPS65987 also achieve same function?

Thanks for your help.

  • Hello,

Yes, if your customer would prefer to use 5 GPIO's to control the DCDC, then that is possible. You can refer to the TPS65987DEVM which uses 4 GPIO's to control the voltage levels of 5V, 9V, 15V, 20V. Customers typically use the truth table method so that they may use those GPIO's for other functions, but if your customer is okay with using all of those GPIO's, then I do not see an issue.
