TUSB9261: Software question

Part Number: TUSB9261

Hi all,

What are the differences between these firmware?

Which one should I use?

  • Hi!

The explanation of the differences between the firmware files should be located in the "Alternate SATA Polarity FW" directory; usually, this is located at:

    C:\Program Files (x86)\Texas Instruments\TUSB926x Firmware\Alternate SATA Polarity FW

    In readme.txt:

"The default firmware swaps the polarity of the SATA Tx signal pair per TI's reference board design. Depending on your particular board layout, you may require an alternate polarity setup for the SATA Tx and Rx signals. These firmware binaries are provided for that usage."

If your design matches our TUSB9261DEMO Reference Design, then you should use TUSB926x_FW_v1.06.  As it sates in the TUSB9261 datasheet:

"Note that the default firmware and reference design for the TUSB9261 have the SATA TXP/TXM swapped for ease of routing in the reference design. If you plan to use the TI default firmware please review the reference design in the TUSB9261 DEMO User’s Guide (SLLU139) for proper SATA connection."

So, if your design does NOT have a TX polarity swap, then you would use one of the alternate firmware files.  The one you choose will depend on your specific design.  For example, if neither TXP/TXM nor RXP/RXM SATA signals are swapped, you would use TUSB926x_FW_v1.06_SATA_NO_POLARITY_SWAP.

    Regards,
