TUSB8041A: TUSB8041A compatibility issue...

Part Number: TUSB8041A

Dear Sirs,

My customer use TUSB8041A in their product and found there is compatibility issue with external SSD drive.

Mac book ---> SSD driver detected as USB3.0 device OK.

Mac book ---> TUSB8041A ---> SSD drive only and always detected as USB2.0 device.

Please help to input your comments for debug direction.

Peter,

With this limited amount of information, I would first ask if the upstream cable you are connecting between Mac book and TUSB8041A is a USB3.0 cable. I'm assuming the connection between the SSD and the Mac book is a USB3.0 cable if you are connecting TUSB8041A to the SSD with the same cable you connected from the Mac book to the SSD. What platform are you using to connect to the TUSB8041A, is it a board you have designed? If so, would I be able to review the schematic?

Hi Sir,

The host system for testing is Mac book and NB(Windows).

And the cable that customer used for testing are all USB 3.0 cable for upstream and downstream connection.

Customer had test with their own design board and TI EVM but same issue.

Dear Gerasimos,

What do you mean for the test plan?

As I know, it is just issue about USB device detection as U2 or U3 for Mac Book with/without TUSB8041A and I don't know the test plan is necessary or not.

About the schematics, I will update it once I got.

BTW, the same issue can duplicate with customer board and TI EVM.
