DS90UB953-Q1: DS90UB954-Q1

Part Number: DS90UB953-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN75DPHY440SS, , DS90UB954-Q1

We have two CMOS sensors 1080p60 connected to two SN75DPHY440SS and two DS90UB953. We have tied both VPOC together to save space on board by having one DC-DC converter. I am attaching schematic for your review. We are having only one channel working. another channel comes good and stays for 10 seconds then goes away.

1. what do you think common VPOC could be a problem?

2. something missed on schematic?

3. OR it could be problem on de-serializer DS90UB954 side?3D Driver Board_SCH.PDF

  • Hi Sam,

Have you tried powering them seperately, perhaps with an external supply? If so, what were the results.

  • In terms of the schematic, I can only comment on the DS90UB953-Q1 and I don't see any issues there. One thing I noticed is that you are using a 2 lane configuration on the SER. Is this properly configured in the registers for both the Ser and Des?

To confirm, if you configure Camera A only, it works? and if you configure Camera B only, it works? Issue is when they are running together?

Are you expecting synchronized video? Do you have that configured on the Des? If so, have you tried Round Robin?

What is the total video throughput you are sending from each camera?

    Regards,
    Mandeep Singh
  • Hi Mandeep,

Each camera (each channel) works at a time, not both together. yes, Des are configured for synchronized video. Video throughput is 1080p60 10-bit RAW for each camera.

I am not familiar of round robin.

we will try powering separately to see if it makes any difference.

    Sam Sangani

  • Hi Sam,

Any luck with the separate power?

I don't know you're overhead on the CSI but just know that the max CSI on FPD-Link for these devices is 3.328G. Which allows for 1.664Gbps of data per DS90UB953-Q1, just ensure you are not exceeding this.

We explain round-robin/best effort in the DS90UB954-Q1 datasheet.

Also, are you providing an internal framesync or external?

  • Hi Sam,

Do you have any further questions?
