I have a customer who requires a passive HDMI connection from upstream to downstream connector, but with a tap off the RBGC pairs suitable for driving out to test equipment.

In other words, he does not want to use an active HDMI / CML repeater for the main upstream to downstream path.

I thought of using some high speed high input impedance buffer amplifier but am pretty skeptical that this work.

Any ideas appreciated.

Does the customer want to split the HDMI main link? Would HD3SS215 work for this requirement?

Thanks for your answer.

This would not work since the customer requires the main HDMI link to be operating continuously (for example from STB to TV) and IN ADDITION to have a tap going to some external equipment.

I would not recommend to do this especially with HDMI high speed signal as this would degrade the signal quality.

Actually after doing some more research I tend to agree with you.

Will inform client that this is more or less impossible.
