TUSB8020B: Connecting 2x USB 2.0 devices + 2x USB 3.0 devices?

I noticed in the datasheet that even though the TUSB8020 has 2 downstream ports each of the downstream ports contains both USB 3.0 data lines as well as USB 2.0 data lines. I also see that the internal chip architecture contains a USB 3.0 hub as well as a USB 2.0 hub. Does this mean that I can connect 2x USB 2.0 devices AND 2 USB 3.0 devicesx to one TUSB8020 USB hub meaning 4 devices in total ?

    Hi Kevin,

    Electrically you could do this, but it is not compliant to the USB specification. The USB spec requires the USB 2.0 port 1 and USB 3.0 port 1 of a USB 3.0 hub map to the same connector, and also allow devices connected at USB 3.0 speeds to drop and connect at USB 2.0 speeds under certain conditions. In addition, TI could not guarantee that the generic hub drivers would support having both a USB 2.0 device and a USB 3.0 device connected to the same port. In summary, this isn't a recommended implementation.
