DS80PCI402: Passing a PERST signal for PCI

Part Number: DS80PCI402
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SN65LVDS100, LMK00334

Team,

I have a customer designing with DS80PCI402, and they are designing an HBA board to redrive PCIe signals over an OCulink cable. The main question here is: should they buffer the PERST signal, and if so, can you recommend a good way to do this? Is passing this signal through the 402 recommended?

Also, they are using SN65LVDS100DGK to buffer the 100MHz RefClk. Is this a good solution or can you recommend something better?

  • Hi Carolus,

The PERST signal is a 3.3V signal and it is very low speed.  You should not need to buffer it.

The REFCLK is not designed around LVDS levels.  I would not recommend the SN65LVDS100 to buffer the signal.

The LMK00334 is an excellent buffer, but it has 4 outputs.  I did not locate any 1:1 buffers compatible with HCSL signal levels.

    Regards,

    Lee
