TCA6408A: Question about standby mode current

Guru 19645 points
Part Number: TCA6408A

One customer is measured supply current for below condition of TCA6408A.

⇒SCL = SDA = 3.3V ( Standby mode), VCCP = VCCI = /RESET = ADDR = 3.3V, P1 = Low output and the other Input are unused.

My question is three points below;

①Is above condition set standby mode, OK?

②Above condition looked like Icc: 3.2μA_max by datasheet page-6, but measured current was about 7μA.

 Is there any reason?

I guess that total current increased by P1 supply current, is it correct?

③Please let me know about additional current by standby mode by datasheet page-6.

For example, is ⊿Iccp: 80μA is mean additional Icc current in the case of connected all P-port and ADDR?

When connect only one P-port, is ⊿Iccp current decrease? (I want to know ⊿Iccp in the case of use one P-port)

Best regards,

Satoshi

Yes. Our device is 5V tolerant and so this kind of standby mode shouldn't cause issues. Because VccP is low, the inputs can be floating.

"②Above condition looked like Icc: 3.2μA_max by datasheet page-6, but measured current was about 7μA."

What set up are you using to measure all of this? My initial guess is you may have this device populated with other devices on the same PCB.Another thought is you could be measuring some leakage current if you are using a LDO or switching regulator.

"③Please let me know about additional current by standby mode by datasheet page-6."

This is a measure of what is called shoot through current. This occurs when the gate of a CMOS structure is not Fully pulled to Vcc or referenced to GND so both CMOS structure partially conducts. The deltaICCP in the datasheet is not applicable to you because VCCP is biased to GND.

    Thanks,
