DS110DF410: Any required wait time before starting SMBus/I2C communication after power up or register reset ?

Hi Team,

I would like to confirm if the device requires certain wait time to start SMBus communication.

Q1). Any required SMBus wait time after POR, after VDD reached 2.5V ?

Q2). Any required SMBus wait time after Register Reset to default, REG 0x00 [2] = "1".

Q3). If there were a wait time requirement, what could occur if user was not following this wait time ?

Best Regards,

Kawai

  • Hi Kawai-san,

    1. The retimer requires 40ms after VDD turn on to complete its POR cycle. To be safe the customer should implement wait time of 100ms from VDD power on before implementing SMBus operations.
    2. The register level reset operation does not trigger a POR cycle. A 1ms wait time should be sufficient.
    3. If the customer tries to read SMBus registers while the POR cycle is still in process it will result in NACK
