TCA9800: it can connect with DDR SPD

Part Number: TCA9800
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TCA9617A

Hi team,

My customer is using the TCA9617A now, they think the VOL 0.5v is too high for them, and want to change to TCA9800, but we want to check whether it can connect with DDR SPD, it seems to be cannot for the B side internal current source. Thanks.

  • Hey Frank,

Do you have an example slave/device (datasheet) in which you are referring to as the DDR SPD? I assume you are talking about a DDR4 EEPROM?

Typically I2C slaves will try to meet the I2C requirement of a leakage current less than 10uA so the IEXT-O should be less than 10uA during operation. If the device is I2C compliant then we shouldn't see issues with this. We may need to be wary if the slaves have internal pull up resistors.

If you can provide a more detailed block diagram of the system/devices on the I2C bus then we can confirm if TCA980x will work.
