DS90UB949-Q1: DS90UB949EVM to DS90Ux948-Q1 configuration

Part Number: DS90UB949-Q1

Hi TI Team,

I need your guide with Serializer and Deserializer configuration. Any suggestion will be very much appreciate.

Please see my questions below.

Objective:

I need setup communication between Serializer (DS90UB949EVM) and Deserializer (DS90UH498) to processing some image from computer to a touch display.

I am seeking your help on how to configure these two board together in order to achieve the desired out.

Equipment:

-          Serializer (DS90UB949EVM)

-          Deserializer (DS90UH498)

-          Dacar 535 4-Core (Coaxial Cable)

-          HDMI

-          LVDS

-          Analog LaunchPAD (Software)

Test Setup:

Background:

I have read Serializer and Deserializer datasheets and the information provided was not quite clear to me, hopeful with your help all will make a bit more sense.

I understood that for both boards to communicate with each order some software and hardware configuration are required, such as MODE_SEL0 (Output), MODE_SEL1 (Input), IDX(Input).

Serializer Datasheet EVM (Configuration Select, pg12): No resistors table were provided but table with combination of bit setting (Table 1-12 & 1-13) were provided.

 -         Supposed in MODE_SEL 0 I have decided to select Mode 4 (EDID_SEL = 0, AUTO_SS = 1, AUX_I2S = 0).

-          For MODE_SEL 1, must I select the same MODE 4 (EXT=0, COAX=0, REM=0)? Is this configuration is done in software? If so, can you provide some guide?

Deserializer Datasheet (Configuration Select, pg42): Table of resistors were provided with values and it advice to choose R1 – R2 based on the Output Mode expected to use.

My customized board with Deserializer has no strap resistors therefore I am not sure about selecting the right value from the Table-8 to match my serializer. For example:

-          For MODE_SEL 0. Must I select No# 4 (R1 = 73.2k, R2 = 15k) Dual SWAP Output?

-          For MODE_SEL 1. Must I also select No# 4 (R1 = 73.2k, R2 = 15k) Coax?

Given the setup I am referring, is the statement below are true?

Deserializer

-          MODE_SEL0 (configure the output of serializer which will matches Deserializer input)

-          MODE_SEL1 (configure the input of serializer from HDMI)

Deserializer:

-          MODE_SEL0 (configure the output of Deserializer to must match with LVDS input display)

-          …

Thank your
