LMH1228: LMH1228's expected input level

Part Number: LMH1228

Hi Team

What is the expected value of the input signal level of the LMH1228?

According to the standard, the output level of the previous stage is at 300 to 850mV,but the transmission loss is calculated as -6dB and the input is 150 to 425mV.

Does this mean the assumption of an input voltage of this level?

Why is there no provision for IC input pins?

If you do not know the transmission path, you can not assume what the actual input will be.

As loss of 4 to 5 dB is also assumed, I think that there is a possibility of actually shifting.

Does that mean that the LMH1228 has enough margin to absorb it?

Thanks

Best regards,

Shidara

  • Hi Shidara-San,

5-inch and 20-inch launch amplitude that you see in the data sheet, were determined by using either color bar or pathological pattern and confirming device can run error free under these condition.  LMH1228 has about 25dB gain at 6GHz. Given minimum 300mV launch and 5-inch board, it means we can handle as low as about 16mV.
