Hi Team,

My customer wants to know if TUSB211 would work in a new design and below is what the USB 2.0 traffic looks like.

PCH --- 6420 mil --- TUSB211 --- 830 mil --- FFC connector --- Cable (24000 mil) --- FFC Connector --- USB port (Total trace = 31250 mil)

Another information I have is the cable loss is about 1 dB @ 480 Mbps.

Could you please let me know if the signal quality would be fine in this design? I would also like to know what criteria you would use to judge.

Hi,

What is the width of the traces and PCB dielectric? Is the cable loss for the entire cable, correct?

Hi Malik,

The trace width is 4 mil and the PCB material is IT-170GRA (you may Google it for more details). The cable loss is for the entire cable.

Hi,

I believe TUSB211 can support this application however depending on the DC losses through the FFC connectors and cable, TUSB212 DC boost function may be needed.
