Hi Sir,

I had already done a type-C hub (one UFP and one DFP) by TPS65988, our customer want the PDO of its DFP can be decide by device, than this hub send this request to UFP port and change voltage by its PD source.

that is, if device want to change 9V, the hub will send request to its source then provide this voltage to DFP port by VBUS. Is it possible? has any problem?

Hi Driscoll,

This can be implemented by using an embedded controller in your system. The TPS65988 will not automatically update the capabilities of one port based on the active contract on the other port. However, you can implement this externally by using an EC and interfacing with the TPS65988 through the Host Interface.

My another concern is this method has any timing issue if this hub need to verify USB-IF PD certification. Pls help provide your suggestion.

Hi Driscoll,

The timing of updating the capabilities on TPS65988 can be controlled through your EC. The TPS65988 is PD compliant silicon and should meet the timing requirements in your application.
