DP83848K: Arbitrary data transmission in compliance test

Hello E2E,

Our customer will try to compliance test next week. They are looking for data transmit format at this PHY following ;

| - - Data transmit (50us) - - | - - No communicate (150us) - - | - - Data transmit (50us) - - | - - (repetition...)

Apparently, the measuring instrument of the certification organization requests such operation.
Is this PHY can that operation by registor modify?
(I think that it is work of master device.)

    Hi,

    DP83848 supports standard Test Modes needed for IEEE Compliance Test. It also supports internal Packet Generator to transmit the packets. This has to be controlled thru MDC/MDIO register configuration. Reaching the timing granularity looks tough to me. Alternatively you can look for MAC which provide such fine control to inject the data.
