DS110DF111: DS110DF111: EEPROM CRC calculation

Dear all,

we want to use a CRC checksum for a DS110DF111 configured in SMBus Master mode.

Is there a guide how to calculate the CRC-8 or a reference to a CRC calculation specification?

I tried several online CRC calculators with the examples in snla228,but no one calculates the expected result.

Hi Detlef,

I'm looking into this in more detail. The calculator link below works correctly for shorter stings of hex information.

Hi Detlef,

The device level CRC uses a slightly different calculation.

The following online tool can do the calculation correctly.

The CRC polynomial as bit sequence should read:100000111

This gives a polynomial: P(x) = x^8 + x^2 + x^1 +x^0

Hi Lee,

many thanks for your link to an online CRC converter.

I tested the examples 2 and 3 from TI Application Note SNLA245, Understanding EEPROM Programming for 10-G to 12.5-G Retimers, with this site.

But unfortunately the results doesn’t match with the app note.

After some research I found the site https://crccalc.com/.

This tools computes the same results as in the app note.

Can you please confirm, that https://crccalc.com/ calculates the right CRC and explain why you recommend another source.

Both CRC calculators give the correct result. You should be able to use either one.
