TPS65987DDJ: Sleep state configuration

Hi, everyone,

We're designing notebook using TPS65987DDJ,

and we want to reduce its power consumption, when there's no USB-C device attached.

So we need to make TPS65987DDJ sleep as often as possible.

and TPS65987DDJ state should be
- 0x20: 05
- 0x70: 05

regardless of notebook state (S0 / S3 Sleep / S4 Hib / S5 OFF)

Is our understanding right ?

Hi Maurice,

You are correct with regards to register 0x70, by setting this register to a value of 05 you will allow the controller to enter sleep mode after 1000ms. However, register 0x20 does not has control over the sleep mode, this register serves other functionality. Let us know if this resolves your thread.

I have another question concerned about this problem.

Can TPS65987DDJ support Fast mode I2C interface (400kHz) during sleep power state?

Because we want to know
whether TPS65987DDH can respond to Fast mode I2C communication during sleeping or not.

(for coming out of slee mode)

Hi Maurice,

TPS65987DDJ does not support I2C during the Sleep Mode, it will enter into the Active Mode when I2C communication is detected. I checked also TPS65987DDH and it has the same behavior during this circumstance. The following table is found in page 43 of the datasheet for the DDJ. Let us know if this solves your thread.
