TUSB321: USB power supply/ data communication with PC/Tablet

Part Number: TUSB321
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ24392

Hi Team,

I have a question about what device combination would be good for following system.

My customer is considering to develop the product that can be operate as Host/Slave and when operating as Host, the product supplies power for Slave and "NO NEED" USB2.0 communication.  When operating as Slave, the product does "NOT" supply power for host and "NEED" USB2.0 communication.

Are there any way to achieve above system with supporting BC1.2 or PD with type-A or type-C cable?

I couldn't find any solution with type-A cable but  if we use TUSB321 + current switch with type-C cable, it would be works.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Regards,

Kai

  • you mean type -A cable to type-C connector ? or type-A connector?

  • Hi Brian,

    I mean there are two assumed case.

    case 1: OTG/ BC1.2 support with type-A receptacle

    Product USB port| USB type-A receptacle --> type-A cable --> e.g. tablet or PC

    when tablet is connected, the product supply power to tablet and no USB2.0 data communication.

    when PC is connected, the product doesn't supply power to PC and USB2.0 data communication.

    case  2: PD support with type-C receptacle

    Product USB port| USB type-C receptacle --> type-C cable --> e.g. tablet or PC

    when tablet is connected, the product supply power to tablet and no USB2.0 data communication.

    when PC is connected, the product doesn't supply power to PC and USB2.0 data communication.

    I'm looking for the good solution for case 1 and case 2.

    Regards,

    Kai
