DP83867IS: SGMII 4-Wire Connections

Part Number: DP83867IS

Hi all

Would you mind if we ask DP83867IS?
We consider using SGMII 4-Wire connections with DP83867IS.
We would like to confirm the termination of unsed pin.

-TX_D2/TX_D3 : Open or pull-down with 1kohm?
-TX_CTRL : Open or pull-down with 1kohm?
-RX_D2(SGMII_SOP)/RX_D3(SGMII_SON) : AC coupling with 50ohm GND(please refer to follows) or open?

Could you give us the advice?

Kind regards,

Hirotaka Matsumoto

  • Hi Hirotaka,

For 4-wire SGMII connection, see section 8.4.1.1 of the datasheet.

RX_D2(SGMII_SOP)/RX_D3(SGMII_SON) are used as SGMII output differential signals.

    RX_D0(SGMII_COP)/RX_D1(SGMII_CON) are NOT used.

Thank you so much for your reply.

We would like to know how to treat of these terminations.

    -TX_D2/TX_D3 : Open or pull-down with 1kohm?
    -TX_CTRL : Open or pull-down with 1kohm?
-RX_D2(SGMII_SOP)/RX_D3(SGMII_SON) : AC coupling with 50ohm GND(please refer to follows) or open?

    Could  you give us these?

    Kind regards,

    Hirotaka Matsumoto

We assume that your days are so busy, however could you give us the reply for our last update?

    Kind regards,

    Hirotaka Matsumoto

  • Hi Hirotaka,

    - TX_D2/TX_D3: can be left open. The pins have internal PD as mentioned in section "6 Pin Configuration and Functions"
    - TX_CTRL: can be left open. The pin has internal PD as mentioned in section "6 Pin Configuration and Functions"

As I mentioned in previous reply, RX_D2(SGMII_SOP)/RX_D3(SGMII_SON) are used as SGMII output differential signals.

RX_D0(SGMII_COP)/RX_D1(SGMII_CON) are for SGMII clock, which is not used in 4-wire SGMII.

Your schematic seems to show wrong connection.

These SGMII pins have internal PD. They can be left open if not used.
