SN65HVDA540: Supplying 5V to CANH, CANL when off

Hello,

Would the device be perfectly fine when 5V is supplied to CANH,L pins while it is off?

I do see that the abs max for CANH and CANL is -27V to 40V in the datasheet. Does this mean that there won't be any problems?

Hi Elisha,

That's correct; applying 5 V to CANH or CANL will not stress the device (whether it is powered on or off).
