DP83849I: The differences between two software resets

Hi Experts,

PHY supports two software reset , one is by setting RESET bit (bit 15) of BMCR register and another is by setting SOFT_RESET (bit 9) of PHYCR2 register. Are there any differences for these two reset? For example, is the area of reset different?

Hi Uchikoshi-san,

Reset bit from BMCR register will reset the device, clear the registers, and re-sample the strap pins. Reset from PHYCR2 register will reset the device but registers will not be cleared and straps will not be re-sampled.
