TCA9548A: SCL Driven Low

Part Number: TCA9548A

Hello,

We're seeing some odd behaviour on a channel of the TCA9548A.    Specifically we're seeing SCL being pulled low and don't know if it's one of the devices on the bus, or the TCA9548A.

Is the state machine internal to the TCA9548A capable of pulling SCL down?

Don

  • Hey Don,

Our TCA/PCA device's do not have NFETs on SCL so our device cannot get a bus stuck like that. (Our device does not do clock stretching so we did not add a FET there).

The device you are looking for is either the master or a slave that supports clock stretching. TCA9548A can pass clock signals (SCL is bidirectional) so it possible for it to pass the stuck clock to the main bus but it should not drive the SCL line low by itself unless it was somehow damaged.

    Thanks,

    -Bobby
