TUSB211: TUS211 SI question

Part Number: TUSB211
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB213

Hi there,

Could you please give comments about the question from our customer below?

1.TUSB211 does not need to disconnect the USB cable when doing SI redriver. This shows that the TUSB211 compensates the USB bus in a certain way. Which part of the bus does the TUSB211 mainly compensate?
2. TUSB211 is hung on the bus. Strictly speaking, it increases the load of the bus. How to adjust the SI bus because of the excessive capacitance load?
3. What is the difference between TUSB211 and TUSB213?
4. In the picture below, the first half of the eye is pressed down and the second half is normal. What is the cause of this phenomenon?

5. When the eye diagram is divergent, can the TUSB211 function to close the divergent waveform (as shown below)?

Thanks!

Eason

  • Hi,

    1. TUSB211 compensates for the AC loss on the USB bus, mainly between the USB Host and redriver.

    2. TUSB211 does not impact bus loading in this way and can be used as drop in placement on most USB buses.

    3. TUSB213 includes added DC boost to help compensate for high resistive losses on the bus and added I2C control.

    4. In this figure you are seeing the effect of high AC loss on the USB bus, this is what TUSB211 and TUSB213 help compensate.

    5. The figure shown shows large amounts of total jitter. TUSB211 and TUSB213 doe not help compensate for jitter but rather AC loss in the system. In most cases jitter is not a concern for USB 2 buses due to its lower signal rate.
