DS90UB954-Q1: how to probe CMLOUT using oscilloscope

Part Number: DS90UB954-Q1

Hello, could you tell me how to probe the CMLOUT? is 100ohm termination resistor needed externally?

also could you tell me if there is difference in probing between STP/Coax configuration?

  • Hello Takuma,

To test the CMLOUT, we would recommend using a differential probe. This would require the 100 Ω termination resistor to be placed externally between the CMLOUT +/- pins. If your oscilloscope has a 100Ω differential termination, you would not need the external 100Ω resistor.

For CMLOUT diagnostics, we recommend differential configuration for probing. But if you have to do single-ended, you'd need to terminate the negative ports with a 50Ω resistor similar to the FPD Link ports.

    Best,

    Liban H.
