DS90UB953A-Q1: Is it possible to use DS90UUB953 (or similar MIPI->LVDS Serializer) with older parallel output style Deserializers?

Part Number: DS90UB953A-Q1

For an application I'm working on it would be advantageous to have a MIPI input serializer connected to a parallel output deserializer. Is this possible? I understand the bandwidth will be limited by the parallel output deserializer since it is slower than the MIPI ones.

Thanks,

Vivek

  • OK after reading some more I see that this is possible. This is great as it allows me to use a MIPI sensor with a parallel input ISP without any additional bridging.

Now I'm curious about what would happen if my sensor is YUV422 8 bit output on MIPI CSI-2, then I have a DS90UB953 connected to a DS90UB934 to parallel output. Does the DS90UB934 bus give me Y and then U/V on consecutive cycles?

It seems only RAW and limited YUV 10 bit modes are supported. Is this the case? Is there any way to get the link to support YUV422 8 bit mode? Perhaps with a different receiving deserializer?

    Thanks,

    Vivek

  • Hi Vivek,

Yes. It's possible to connect a CSI serializer and a DVP deserializer. We have an application note that discusses this: http://www.ti.com/lit/an/snla270a/snla270a.pdf

However, none of our DVP deserializers supports YUV 8 bit format.
