Hello,
Customers are considering TPS65988.
The system needs 1.5A.
If the supply source can not meet the 1.5A requirement,
can it be set to supply no current?
Best regards,

Hello,
Would you be able to elaborate on your system setup? Is your TPS65988 configured as the Sink or Source? Are you wanting the TPS65988 not supply current based on the 1.5A requirement or have the device being connected to the TPS65988 not supply current unless it can supply 1.5A?
Hello
Thank you for your reply.
・Would you be able to elaborate on your system setup?
The customer wants to supply power from the USB to the later CPU etc. Battery is not installed. They are thinking of supplying via AC adapter or USB.
Connection is considered as follows.
USB -> TPS65988 -> DC/DC(3.3V) -> CPU
・Is your TPS65988 configured as the Sink or Source?
It is a sink.
・Are you wanting the TPS65988 not supply current based on the 1.5A requirement or have the device being connected to the TPS65988 not supply current unless it can supply 1.5A?
It becomes the latter. The costomer is wanting have the device(source) being connected to the TPS65988 not supply current unless it can supply 1.5A

Hello,
Apologize for the late reply.
The USB port could power the system without receiving any power from the system it is connected to. We call this a dead battery condition, and is explained within section 8.3.5 of the datasheet.
As far as not advertising 1.5A unless it can support it, if the TPS65988 is in a dead battery condition, then it will not advertise at all as a source but only a sink.
