TPS65987EVM: Why Test SPI Read Success?

Part Number: TPS65987EVM

To whom may it concern,

I have some questions about your tool "Application Customization Tool".

I switch off all SPI lines of S1 switch,

and then execute "Test SPI Read" of "Configure I2C/SPI Adapter Settings".

"Test SPI Read : Success"

How can operate to test SPI during off-state of all SPI lines on S1 switch?

Also, I don't enter correctly I2C Address, How the test is Success during off-state of all SPI lines on S1 switch?

  • Hi Chanwook,

The SPI Offsets are checked through I2C using a 4CC command through the PD controller.

    Thank you,
    Eric

  • Thank you for reply.

But, I have found strange thing.

So, I have additional test about that.

First, I unpluged Micro-B USB Cable from TPS65987EVM.

And then, I executed "Test SPI Read (Offset :0)" and then the result was "Exception Encountered".

I think It is very nature result.

Second, I switched off all lines(I2C & SPI) of S1.

And then, I executed "Test SPI Read (Offset :0)" and then the result was "Success".

How it operates although I disconnect path from FTDI <-> TPS65987D by S1 Switch all off???

So, I guess that "Test SPI Read (Offset :0)" is testing a EEPROM (U7 of PSIL060A(001) -TPS65987EVM's schematic) for initial setting FTDI.

    Is it right??

Please check and confirm correct fact.
