Hi,

The datasheet shows that “Signal detect” can be enabled/disable on pin 24 (JTAG_TDI/SD) through strap option in 1000Base-X (Table14. 1000Base-X Strap Table) and 100Base-X (Table15. 100Base-X Strap Table) mode.

When the PHY is strapped to boot in Copper Ethernet mode (Strap OPMODE(2:0) = 0x0) and then changed to "RGMII to 1000Base-X" mode through Serial Management Interface (MDC/MDIO), is it possible to enable the Signal Detect on pin 24 (JTAG_TDI/SD) through Serial Management Interface (MDC/MDIO)?

Hi,

Yes, once device is in 1000Base-X mode, it shall be possible to user Signal Detect pin. However the straps pins are latched at reset only, you may need to manually configure the SD pin.

I did not find the register that control the enabling/disabling of the "Signal detect" on pin 24 (JTAG_TDI/SD) through Serial Management Interface. Can you please provide this information?

Can you try writing to register : 0x0C10, bit[9] as 0 ?

Hi,

We are currently designing the PCB so we can’t test the register. We want to be sure that it will be possible to enable “Signal detect” on pin 24 (JTAG_TDI/SD) through Serial Management Interface (MDC/MDIO) before releasing the PCB to fabrication. Can you confirm this on your side?

Hi,

Yes, this shall be possible.

See if you have possiblity to have the strap option on board to switch the mode using HW configuration.
