TLIN2024-Q1: RXD VOH characteristic unclear

Part Number: TLIN2024-Q1

The RXD pin of the TLIN2024 is advertised as an open drain. So I assume that I can pull it to the value I desire which in my case is 3.3V. That said, the VOH is shown as 0.85 x VSUPP. I am tying VSUPP to a car batter which is 12V, this means VOH will be around 10V.   Is this trying to say that this is the max I can pull it up to or is it implying that the RXD output will go to 10V when high.

Thank you

  • Sam,

You are correct that the RXD is an open-drain output, and it can be pulled-up to voltages between 2.0 - 5.5V. So yes, 3.3V pull up is perfectly fine.

The VOH you are referring to is the LIN bus VOH, not the RXD. VOH for RXD isn't listed in the datasheet because it's based on an external pull-up resistance and voltage supply that we don't specify. Just know that RXD will only go as high as the voltage that is supplying it.

Please let me know if you have any other questions or concerns.

    Regards,
