TUSB4020BI-Q1: compliance test issue

Part Number: TUSB4020BI-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TUSB4020BI

Hi Sir,

My Hub (no battery) meet compliance issue and

1. meet fail at "A4.14: Hub Test J/K, SE0_NAK - Downstream"

Could we waiver this item? if yes, does it is temporary or permanent?

If can't waiver, how to solve?

2. this hub's UP port could support BC1.2, but it shouldn't support due to this hub no battery in. How to cancel BC1.2 function in TUSB4020BI setting?

below is "BC 1.2 Implemented Check UFP" log file.

Regards,

Driscoll

  • Hi Driscoll,

    1. TUSB4020B should pass Test J without any issue - what is between the hub and the connector?  There is something else that is causing this voltage.

    2. The TUSB4020B does not support BC on its upstream port, only on its downstream ports.   The downstream port battery charging will be enabled through pin configuration or setting the appropriate register via I2C EEPROM or SMBUS host.

  • Hi Sir,

for item#1, USB LAB reply as below:

As TUSB4020BIPHPRQ1 is HUB IC, not BC 1.2 IC, so can't confirm could get "waiver" or not.

may I confirm with you, for BC1.2 test item, did TI have waiver or not when get USB-IF compliance?

if yes, does it is "temporary" or "permanent"?

    thanks~

    Regards,

    Driscoll

  • Driscoll,

Can you confirm if you disable battery charging  on TUSB4020B, that TEST J (EL_9) passes?

TUSB4020B did not require any waivers for compliance.

  • Hi Sir,

This path had through Ritchtek buck chip. We can pass this test if bypass this chip.

We will check with Ritchtek. Thanks for your help.
