I did read the EVM user guide and it references the 1417K4A.

My question has to do with why the distributor's image is showing an AVAGO optical transceiver and why they indicated

in their description of the board that the transceiver was not included.

I would like to have someone to view the board physically and tell me what part is on the board.

 I got the answer I was looking for from Digikey tech support.  The technician I spoke with was able to get a physical copy of the EVM and

confirm that it did have an optical transceiver installed - appears to be an Avago AFCT5543?  This too is obsolete so I am looking around for a

suitable substitute.

Great that I had to take the initiative to figure out what was installed on the board your company or contractor manufactured.

Great that your company did not update their documentation.

Great that I had a distributor representative help me out.

Great that since I do not buy in quantity I can expect lousy service from the board developer - you and TI.

Great too that you did not lift a finger to find out the real story and took the easiest, laziest way out.

Rest assured that I will have second thoughts concerning any future use of TI and will get word around.

   Sorry for your upset. you may misunderstood my reply. I just want to say it's good that you found out what you want to know.

    We Inherited this device from other group, I will find out why optical transceiver is different from EVM user guide and will give you update.

Hi Karl,

Sorry for the inconvenience. The latest BOM from our EVM coordinators does not have the 1417K4A (U2) on it. So if the EVM is ordered from the TI store then it will not have any laser transceiver installed on it at all.
