TCA9617A: Question for internal architecture

Part Number: TCA9617A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TXB0101

Hello expert,

My customer has question for TCA9617A about internal architecture.

Customer guessed TCA9617A's internal architecture is same as TXB0101. If it is true, he think TCA9617A has resistor as follow.

He would like to know about the resistor value of TCA9617A. Could you answer it?

Best regards,

  • Hey Kazuki-san,

"Customer guessed TCA9617A's internal architecture is same as TXB0101. If it is true, he think TCA9617A has resistor as follow."

This is incorrect. The TCA9617A is not a device that has been reused/taken-from another die. The device is unique to its name and made specifically for the I2C protocol.

Proof our device does not have a pull up: if the customer removes the external pull up resistor on either side, the I2C line will float/discharge to GND or ~0.5V. We do not use an internal pull up or 'one shot' in this device. It is purely an open drain device without any way of driving the I2C line high by itself like the image you show.
